Inspired by Sweden’s most iconic lighthouse, Vinga is an appropriate name for a candle lantern based on the idea that what we take for granted is not always obvious. The Vinga candle lantern captures the grandeur of light and fire, creating a magical atmosphere while also representing the essential elements that shape both clay and glass into their solid forms.
Barbro Berlin has designed the Vinga lantern, a collection that blends artisanal craftsmanship with the beauty of nature. Each piece features a hand-turned bowl made from high-fired stoneware clay, paired with a mouth-blown glass cylinder crafted at a local glass factory in Sweden. The collection creates a contrast between the dark, textured surface of the ceramic and the smooth, crystal-clear glass.
Skargaarden Objects emphasizes artistry, expert craftsmanship, and sustainable materials sourced locally near the artisans. Each piece in the collection is crafted with attention to detail, meeting the highest standards of quality to ensure longevity and timeless appeal for future generations. Skargaarden Objects is about creating functional, beautiful, and sustainable outdoor environments where every detail is thoughtfully considered to provide lifelong value and enjoyment. By combining craftsmanship and artistry with respect for nature, Skargaarden offers products that make it easy to create the perfect outdoor space, year-round.
Barbro Berlin’s design has spread all over the world both through IKEA and design brands such as Klong, Nordiska Galleriet, Röshults and others. Barbro is educated at Beckmans Design School and has attended several craft courses to immerse herself in and be inspired by different techniques. Since 2004, she has run the Amsell Berlin Design studio with both own production and commissions in glass, porcelain, utility objects, lighting, furniture and textiles.
Barbro’s design is characterized by soft organic shapes inspired by the Nordic nature. The combination of Scandinavian functionalism in a unique design expression has resulted in a number of appreciated products that enhance the feeling and experience of both everyday and extraordinary things.
