We come from Gävle, a small town on the Baltic coast of Sweden. For centuries, our people have fished these waters, surrounded by stunning scenery and the vast sea beyond. But life in this region is challenging, with harsh winds and heavy snowfall for most of the year. A day’s drive away is the Arctic Circle, where winter darkness lasts for an entire month, making every hour of sunlight a scarce and valuable resource.
At Skargaarden, we understand the importance of embracing every second of sunlight during the fleeting Scandinavian summer. We appreciate the beauty and brevity of these precious moments and aim to capture them in every piece we make.
Skargaarden collaborates with talented designers from Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. Our goal is to honor the Scandinavian design tradition while incorporating influences from American Shaker and Bauhaus movements. We prioritize superior craftsmanship, durability, and a sense of ease in our furniture. Form and function are equally important to us, as we strive to create visually appealing, comfortable, and inviting pieces. We believe in the “less is more” philosophy and value quality over quantity to elevate simplicity to a sublime. level.
