Vinga is Sweden’s most famous lighthouse. An appropriate name for a candle lantern based on the idea that what we take for granted is not always obvious. The Vinga candle captures the grandeur of light and fire, which creates a magical atmosphere, but which is also the prerequisite for both clay and glass to take their solid form.
Vinga consists of a hand-turned bowl of high-fired stoneware clay and a mouth-blown glass cylinder from a local glass factory in Sweden. With the fine craftsmanship, an exciting contrast is created when the dark, rugged surface of the ceramic meets the smooth, crystal clear glass. When you fill the dish with sand from your favorite beach, you get both a reminder of the sea and the origin of the materials.
SKARGAARDEN OBJECTS is about art, artisans, crafts and producing in the most environmentally friendly way with sustainable materials found in our producers’ immediate area. And with a timeless design and not trends and colors that become outdated. We have always maintained that sustainability is about products that last, both in terms of design and that they are manufactured in such a high quality that they can be inherited by future generations.
Barbro Berlin’s design has spread all over the world both through IKEA and design brands such as Klong, Nordiska Galleriet, Röshults and others. Barbro is educated at Beckmans Design School and has attended several craft courses to immerse herself in and be inspired by different techniques. Since 2004, she has run the Amsell Berlin Design studio with both own production and commissions in glass, porcelain, utility objects, lighting, furniture and textiles.
Barbro’s design is characterized by soft organic shapes inspired by the Nordic nature. The combination of Scandinavian functionalism in a unique design expression has resulted in a number of appreciated products that enhance the feeling and experience of both everyday and extraordinary things.
